Welcome!

My name is Angela Hobbs. You may have seen or heard my name as Angela Hewett. Since I recently married, my name is still in transition.

Learning art virtually is a challenge, but I promise to offer you my best, even if it is not the same situation with supplies and working together in the same classroom. You and I are unsure of what school may look like in the next few weeks. But, arguably more important, is the fact that we don’t know what life will look like in the next 20, 30, 40 years because of the inevitable change that life brings. Therefore, I encourage you to take each assignment from me and your other teachers as an opportunity to make yourself stronger, more prepared, and more resilient for whatever you do and become in your own life story.

Small things have impact. Even the tasks you don’t see value in now, may prove valuable later. I hope you will continue, or perhaps begin, to see the value in learning...no matter the form.

Here are my 3 expectations:

  1. Practice having a positive attitude. You will be asked to do some things that may seem really difficult, not fun enough, or uncomfortable. Just keep trying, don't quit, and don't settle for less than your best. Making art and learning is not always easy and fun. It requires perseverance and effort. I see students achieve and create things they thought were impossible when they don't give up.

  2. Take responsibility for your learning. This does not mean you are left on your own. This just means that you will need to regularly log in, check announcements, and work on your modules. I will not assign work just to keep you busy. I will assign work to help you grow and learn, but it is your responsibility to do it.

  3. Plan your time wisely. This course will require 5-7 hours each week. However, I give you flexibility so you are able to have jobs, consider your family needs, and take care of your other commitments. I will be available to respond to you via email at the times listed in our schoolwide daily schedule. I will also try to respond as soon as I can at other times, but following the schedule will help me be fair to all 90 of my current students. Therefore, don't wait until the last minute to start or to ask questions.

You can find information for your specific class in the drop down menu of the COURSES tab.

Here's to a wonderful semester!
